Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

Deep easterly flow exists across Central Florida as the subtropical ridge axis is situated well to the north. Coastal showers are possible each morning, but chances subside as the east coast sea breeze moves inland by early afternoon each day. In this weather regime, afternoon and evening thunderstorms will typically stay west of the Space Coast. Elsewhere, a tropical easterly wave is approaching and is forecast to move through the Bahamas Sunday and move across the Florida peninsula on Monday. This will bring added cloud cover and extend rain chances throughout the day Monday. By Tuesday, the wave should be in the Gulf of Mexico, allowing weather conditions to settle back to normal at the Spaceport. The primary weather concerns for a Tuesday afternoon launch attempt are the Cumulus Cloud Rule and the Anvil Cloud Rules associated with inland thunderstorm activity. On Wednesday, conditions should be much the same with possible morning coastal showers, with afternoon thunderstorms activity mostly west of the Spaceport. The primary weather concerns Wednesday remain the Cumulus Cloud Rule and the Anvil Cloud Rules.
