Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

For Launch Day today, low ceilings over the area will gradually lift and become scattered by the afternoon, with a few low topped showers offshore coming close to the coast by mid to late afternoon during the window. Winds are slightly higher than previous forecasts due to the low off the southeast coast intensifying more than models indicated. This low will continue to keep breezy winds through the launch window, with the possibility for winds to increase even a few more knots by mid-afternoon with afternoon mixing. Therefore, the primary concerns are now the Cumulus Cloud Rule and Liftoff Winds. For backup day, winds decrease by late morning Wednesday as the surface low pulls away, but onshore moving convergent bands are still possible with isolated showers.
