Forecast Discussion
Today, the east coast sea breeze and its associated storms will once again move quickly into the interior due to predominately easterly flow. By later tonight, the western Atlantic ridge that has remained to the north of the Spaceport will begin to drift south, causing winds at the Spaceport to become from the southeast and reducing available moisture. This will favor early-morning showers along the coast and afternoon storms over the interior. Primary launch day conditions continue to look favorable for launch. However, light and veering upper-level flow has the chance to bring anvil clouds to the area, and occasional onshore-moving Atlantic showers cannot be ruled out in this pattern. The primary concerns during Tuesday’s launch window are the Cumulus Cloud Rule and Anvil Cloud Rules. Conditions look to remain largely similar for a backup attempt on Wednesday, while available moisture will continue to decrease and chances for those occasional evening Atlantic showers will drop correspondingly. The primary concern during the backup window remains the Cumulus Cloud Rule.
