Forecast Discussion
Through Monday, the western Atlantic ridge will remain to the north of the Spaceport, allowing the sea breeze and its associated showers and storms to push quickly inland by the early afternoons. By late Monday heading into early Tuesday, the ridge axis will drift southward, causing winds at the Spaceport to become from the southeast and reducing available moisture. This will favor early-morning showers along the coast and afternoon storms over the interior, with easterly upper-level flow pushing anvils away from the Spaceport. Thus, primary launch day conditions are favorable for launch, although occasional Atlantic showers cannot be ruled out in this pattern. The primary concern during Tuesday’s launch window is the Cumulus Cloud Rule. Conditions look to remain largely similar for a backup attempt on Wednesday. However, available moisture will continue to decrease and chances for those occasional evening Atlantic showers will drop correspondingly. The primary concern during the backup window remains the Cumulus Cloud Rule.
