Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

The Probability of Violation (POV) has been lowered slightly with this forecast update. Light southwest steering flow, combined with deep moisture over the area, will continue to encourage afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the eastern half of the peninsula today. While ample moisture will linger into Friday, increasingly stable conditions aloft should result in a delayed start and slightly lower coverage of afternoon convection. Still, given the time of day of the launch, a weather-related violation is possible during the countdown due to isolated showers and thunderstorms, particularly late in the count and west of Space Launch Complex 41. The primary concerns remain the Cumulus Cloud, Surface Electric Fields, and Lightning Rules.
