Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

An inverted surface trough along the east coast of Florida will linger one more day, with continued cloudy and drizzly weather. Rain chances will wane into tonight as the trough moves farther east and an old frontal boundary lifts north of the area. This will bring a few days of quieter weather to end the week, with onshore flow bringing a small chance for Atlantic showers at times. This pattern will continue into the primary launch opportunity Saturday afternoon. The main weather concerns for Saturday afternoon will be cumulus clouds and precipitation associated with any nearby Atlantic showers. The next storm system will lift out of the Deep South into the Northeastern US late Saturday into early Sunday, bringing another cold front into Florida on Sunday. Models differ with the exact timing of the front as it moves into the Spaceport sometime during the day, but consensus is for it to weaken as it does so with it’s parent low well to the north. The main weather concerns for a backup launch attempt Sunday afternoon will be the increased mid-level cloud cover with this front, along with cumulus clouds and precipitation with any showers that do manage to hold together.
