Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

No significant changes to today’s update, as conditions continue to look generally favorable for tonight’s launch attempt. Today, upper-level ridging will build, and the low-level Atlantic ridge will continue its slow push northwards. The weaker low-level flow will allow the sea breeze and the associated storms to push further inland during the afternoon compared to the last several days. Some of this convection may try to push eastwards back towards the coast in the late afternoon and evening, but this activity will dissipate as we head towards the launch window shortly after midnight. Additional showers and storms will start to develop over the Gulf Stream waters overnight, but they are expected to stay off the coast. The primary concerns are the Anvil Cloud Rules and the Cumulus Cloud Rule violation associated with small risk of lingering cloud cover or blowoff from a storm off the coast. The back up day looks very similar to the primary launch attempt, so the POV and primary concerns are the same.
