Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

A surface ridge extends across the southeast US while a weak area of low pressure develops east of the Bahamas, resulting in continued breezy onshore flow across central Florida today and tomorrow. The ridge will gradually weaken as the Atlantic low pressure system shifts north, leading to a reduction in local winds by Monday. Atmospheric moisture remains shallow but sufficient to bring scattered to occasionally broken cumulus clouds onto the coast from the neighboring Atlantic. Windy conditions and steep seas in the booster recovery zone today will steadily diminish through early next week. Thus, the primary weather concerns for primary and backup launch opportunities are onshore moving cumulus clouds, with an added risk of liftoff winds for the primary launch day.
