Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

A weak surface boundary is expected to move across the Space Coast this weekend and will wash out over southern Florida as we enter the first of the week. High pressure will move in across the entire southeastern US in the wake of this front and should bring favorable weather conditions across Florida into the middle part of next week. Northeast winds are expected on the primary launch day and we should see north to northeast winds in the 8 to 13 mph range with gusts in the upper teens mph likely as the launch window opens. With a rather dry air mass remaining in place across the area, cloud cover will likely be at a minimum. No precipitation is expected given the previously mentioned dry atmosphere. The primary concern for the launch day is from the Cumulus Cloud Rule. In the event of a 24-hour delay, weather conditions will be similar except that the winds are expected to veer to a more easterly direction and weaken a bit. This may allow more moisture and thus a few more clouds across the Space Coast area. However, precipitation is not expected given the dry conditions. The primary weather concern would be from the Cumulus Cloud Rule.
