Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

Forecast Discussion: A cold front will approach from the northwest today and push southeast across the region this afternoon. Isolated showers may develop near the front, with dry conditions returning by the evening. Winds will strengthen behind the frontal passage, with strongest winds expected this evening and overnight. High pressure will build in early next week, however onshore flow and a boundary along the coast may generate coastal showers Monday and Tuesday, with some possibly moving onshore. This will increase the risk of a Cumulus Cloud Rule violation during the primary and back up launch opportunities. Additionally, mid-level clouds moving across the region could increase the risk of a Thick Cloud Layers Rule violation during the back-up opportunity, mainly towards the end of the launch window. Seas at the recovery location will be elevated on Monday from the passage of the cold front, then begin lowering on Tuesday.
