Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

Forecast Discussion: A strong cold front is moving through the Florida Peninsula today, reaching the Space Coast around 4-6pm. Seabreeze enhanced showers and thunderstorms may develop ahead of the front as well. Damaging winds and brief heavy downpours are possible with these thunderstorms. Frontal precipitation will move south of Brevard County during the evening, leaving northeasterly winds overnight. Northeasterly flow in the low levels will allow for low-topped Atlantic cumulus development and the potential for a Cumulus Cloud Rule violation during the primary launch window. Increased wind speeds may also cause liftoff wind violations on the primary day. Conditions improve for the backup day as wind speeds decrease, with increased mid-level moisture causing very small potential for a Thick Cloud Rule Violation.
