Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

Forecast Discussion: A weak frontal boundary is sandwiched between the subtropical ridge axis to the south and a weak high over the southeastern United States. This boundary is expected to increase the chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the early afternoon, but these storms should push inland through the late afternoon hours. By the launch window, any central Florida thunderstorm activity should largely be over. The boundary, if stalled near the Spaceport, would slightly increase the possibility of a storm so there is a small possibility of a Cumulus Cloud Rule violation. The back-up launch opportunity is several days after the primary window. With low confidence in an extended forecast, a detailed forecast for the backup window is not included. As of now, the subtropical ridge looks to be slightly north of the Cape by the backup day. With this pattern for this time of year, there is likely to be a small risk of an LLCC violation in the late evening if the backup window were needed.
