Forecast Discussion

Space Launch Delta 45

Forecast Discussion: Tropical Depression Two, currently located south of the Florida Panhandle, is forecast to slowly strengthen as it drifts to the west-northwest along the northern Gulf coast and farther away from the Spaceport. As it does so, it will help wrap drier air across the Florida peninsula as the western Atlantic ridge strengthens westwards into the state. Steering flow will remain generally southerly, allowing for the east coast seabreeze to develop and move inland the next few afternoons. However, for the primary and backup windows Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, models continue to show that arriving drier air will be sufficient to significantly limit the development of afternoon convection, perhaps shutting it off entirely for some locations. The primary violation concerns for both launch windows will be the Cumulus Cloud Rule for any showers or storms that develop or move by in the vicinity. The Anvil Cloud Rules will also be a concern as upper-level flow will be out of the northeast, allowing any storms that move offshore to potentially push anvils back towards the Spaceport.
